Below is the list of items I carry in my Go Bag, which I keep in my truck.

First a note about the bag. I've been what you would call a "prepper" for a long time. In case of a major disaster, like an earthquake, major power outage, or say, the Zombie Apocalypse, I will be fine in my house for a good long time. Whenever the power goes out I get real excited to use all of my gadjets and supplies. And then without fail the power gets restored in a couple hours and it bums me out.

I started carrying a bag in my car with supplies in case I got in a crash, went over an embankment in the snow, and noone found me for days (yes, that specific) among other things.

Then the first Trump term happened and I thought I needed to be ready to hit the streets if needed so I added items for that. Now with the government literally killing people in the street I've added more stuff. Yes, it's too big and too heavy. (In all of the times I ever went backpacking I never had a backpack that was not too big and too heavy, so I am always trying to reconfigure). But also, I carry extra supplies for others who I know won't be as prepared as me.

In a way, "prepping" is a hobby and like all hobbies you can spend a ton of money on it if you want. I have accumulated stuff over time. But also, it is an activity I can engage in that helps me feel like I am doing something, like I have agency. I can be ready for what is to come. It might give some people anxiety to obsess about this stuff, but for me it actually helps my mental health. I may never be in a situation where I need it, but knowing I am as ready as I can be gives me some power.
