"I'm sorry I don't have a plane to give you."

Here we go...
1. Good God these people. (On the day we learned of Biden’s cancer diagnosis, Jr insults his wife and offers another conspiracy theory)
And I was told Trump couldn’t be that bad because his children turned out so good. No, really.
2. Trump is bloody nuts.
3. Seen on Threads: It feels like we live in a post-intelligence society where a third of the country proudly rejects science, logic, and basic critical thinking. We’re not debating ideas anymore. We’re arguing with people who think facts are optional. Lily Kira
4. 5 frigging million-dollar settlement for Ashli Babbitt. (CBS News, WaPo, BBC)
5. Neither Trump nor Noem know what habeas corpus is.(NYT, Mother Jones, NPR) “Noem Incorrectly Defines Habeas Corpus as the President’s Right to Deport People” (NYT) Um, Nope (snort) Pretty much the opposite of what THE SECRETARY OF HOMELAND SECURITY thinks.
“Habeas corpus (/ˈheɪbiəs ˈkɔːrpəs/ ⓘ; from Medieval Latin, lit. 'you should have the body')[1]is a legal procedure by which a report can be made to a court alleging the unlawful detention or imprisonment of an individual, and requesting that the court order the individual's custodian (usually a prison official) to bring the prisoner to court, to determine whether their detention is lawful.” (Wikipedia)
6. 50+ Venezuelans Imprisoned in El Salvador came to US legally, never violated immigration law. (The conservative Cato Institute)
7. FDA restricts COVID vaccine access to those over 65 or at high risk. (ABC News, WaPo, Fast Company) Not a single decision this Administration makes is based in science, logic, or data. Absolutely everything is based on “owning the libs”.
8. Our government now has 19-21 Fox News personalities working in it. (NPR, Yahoo News) TV personalities are running our country. It must be noted once again that Fox had to pay almost a billion dollars for lying about the 2020 election. (Reuters, The AP, Fox News) But “merit” folks, am I right? Merit.
9. Marco Rubio just declared that he doesn't have to comply with the judiciary after clashing with Senator Chris Van Hollen who asked him to stop making unsubstantiated claims about Kilmar Abrego Garcia. (The New Republic, Yahoo News, The Independent). And of course, Trump is still ignoring a 9-0 SCOTUS ruling.
10. From Alt National Park - Highlights from Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” passed by the House (and yes, it’s actually named that – because we live in the dumbest timeline in history). One of my “favorites” in the bill is “places all federal agencies under direct presidential control.” Another is a 500 BILLION DOLLAR CUT TO MEDICARE. The New Independent, MarketWatch, Kiplinger). There are also massive cuts to SNAP which provides food for the poor, all while giving the richest 1% a 664-billion-dollar tax cut. And adding almost 4 trillion to the deficit.
11. Trump Administration bans Harvard from enrolling all foreign students and orders all current foreign students on Harvard's campus to transfer. (BBC, WaPo, The Guardian). Almost 7,000 students at Harvard are international and now they are basically in a panic because of our wannabe dictator’s ridiculous whims. A judge immediately blocks the move – for now. Meanwhile Harvard offers free online courses in which "You'll learn about rights and responsibilities, constitutionalism, the philosophical foundations of democracy, and the levers of change."
12 Question (re: the Harvard BS): Why do you not want the best and brightest from around the world to come here? Trump: I do, but many of them need remedial math. The students can't add 2 and 2, and they go to Harvard. Why would someone who can't do math get in? (Economic Times, LA Times) Of course this is absurd.
13. January: Chinese crypto billionaire Justin Sun began buying $18.6M worth of Trump’s meme coin. February: Trump’s SEC paused its fraud case against him. May: Sun “won” Trump’s cryptocurrency contest by being the top holder of $TRUMP coin. (ABC News, Mother Jones, CBC) Trump is openly accepting bribes.
14. Bloody Hell – This from Alt National Park: “The EPA has drafted a plan to eliminate all pollution controls from coal and gas-fired power plants. The agency claims these plants “do not contribute significantly” to dangerous pollution or climate change, arguing their emissions are a small and declining share of global totals. According to the EPA, eliminating these protections would have “no meaningful effect on public health and welfare.” (also reported by Power Magazine, Denver Gazette, AOL.com)
15. Trump gave a campaign speech barely disguised as a commencement address at West Point in which he wore his stupid campaign hat and bragged about winning 7 swing states which gives him the power to do “whatever he wants”. (Once again, there was no mandate. He told the cadets he won the popular voted by many millions. It was 2 million, or 1.47%. He did not even win the majority of votes when adding in Independents.) By the way – even if a President does win a “mandate” it doesn’t mean he can do anything he wants. Do I have to bring up defying supreme court orders again??
Trump stated that nobody wanted to join the military under President Biden. He said that to an entire graduating class who literally joined under President Biden. And by the way, military recruitment has been falling for 40 years but was up during 2024 of the Biden Administration(US DoD)
He rambled on about trophy wives and golf and DEI. He whined yet again about being “investigated more than the late great Al Capone”. Yes, Al Capone the gangster. He can’t give a speech without taking credit for accomplishments of someone else, bragging incessantly about himself, lying, and whining about how badly he is treated all the time.
16. Judge orders Trump administration to return Guatemalan rape survivor ‘wrongfully’ deported to Mexico. (Yahoo News)
17. Remember when Trump had a plane full of Afrikaners (white south Africans) come to America and called them “refugees”? Well this week he ambushed the South African president in the Oval, in front of the press claiming a “White genocide” is happening in South Africa. It isn’t (Reuters, etc.). It’s a conspiracy theory and trump can’t get enough of those.
Trump went so far as to show pictures of what he said showed evidence of white genocide, but guess what? The pictures were of Congo. He showed a picture of what looked like mass graves. He said it was a mass grave of white farmers. It wasn’t. It was a memorial to 2 farmers that had been killed. The guy who built the memorial said it was a memorial, not a burial site.
Check out the conspiracy theory and the actual data here.
18. More on the budget from the National Parks Conservation Association: “The administration’s recently released budget proposal calls for a cut of more than $1 billion to the National Park Service Cuts of this magnitude would devastate our parks and could shutter at least 350 national parks sites across the country, effectively more than 75% of our Park System.”
Ugh. Excuse me while I spend another afternoon staring into the abyss.
In the words of Thomas Jefferson in the musical Hamilton, “So what did I miss?"
