A woman told him, in Spanish: “Father, we feel as if we were hunted, as if we were animals.”

Here goes...

1. What on earth is Kristi (puppy killer) Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security doing accompanying ICE on a raid? I mean other than grandstanding.

Also, at said raid, a half dozen unmarked vehicles showed up with heavily armed and masked men. What they found at the house when they busted in was a pregnant mother of four – who was in the shower and terrified for her life. She and the children were ordered out of the house. No man was there. When they showed her the warrant for “David Garcia”, she told them her husband’s name was Jorge. He wasn’t there. One of the agents saw a home security camera and turned it away. We don’t know yet if they were at the right house or not.

“LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn, who served in the Congress with Noem, said the secretary chose to have a public spectacle while frightening children and families in the neighborhood.

“I could tell she was doing a full camera crew production. She was getting hair and makeup done. She was putting on a show,” said Hahn, while calling for the end of the raids. “I really object to that. That really should not be what our government should be doing.” (NBC Los Angeles, The Hill)

As an aside - It is extremely important to know if the people grabbing people off of the street and throwing them into unmarked vans are actually officers. How else do we know it isn’t a kidnapping???? Masked men, no uniform, unmarked vans. Its nightmarish.

2. A right-wing nut job assassinated a Minnesota legislator (Speaker emerita) and her husband and wounded another and his wife. Showed up at their houses and shot them.

Governor Tim Walz was visibly shaken during a press conference. The President of the United States of America was asked if he would call Governor Walz about the assassination….

““I don’t really call him. He’s slick — he appointed this guy to a position,” Trump said. “I think the governor of Minnesota is so whacked out. I’m not calling him. why would I call him? “I could call him and say, ‘Hi, how you doing?’” Trump continued. “The guy doesn’t have a clue. He’s a, he’s a mess. So, you know, I could be nice and call him but why waste time?”” (The AP, NBC New, Politico)

And the SENATOR Mike Lee posted this, and, I don't know - thought it was funny?

3. The Trump EPA is telling staff to stop policing the oil and gas industry. (CNN, Society of Environmental Journalists). It’s fine. It’s fine. (We’re all going to die).

4. More than 75% of people booked into ICE custody in fiscal year 2025 had no conviction other than an immigration or traffic-related offense. 93% have no violent convictions. (CNN, CATO Institute, ICE records). Terrorizing families, sending men to a foreign gulag - over misdemeanors – in order to make Trump’s deportation numbers look good.

5. Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Intelligence, announced Trump's DOJ is looking into who is funding the anti-ICE and No Kings protests. (Yahoo News) Hahahahahahahahahaha. Just dumb.

6. Judge William Young has declared Trump’s cuts to NIH grants (due to EOs on gender ideology and DEI) are illegal and void and orders many of them restored. From the judge: “I am hesitant to draw this conclusion, but I have an unflinching obligation to draw it - that this represents racial discrimination. And discrimination against America's LGBTQ community. That's what this is. I would be blind not to call it out. My duty is to call it out. It is palpably clear that these directives and the set of terminated grants here also are designed to frustrate, to stop, research that may bear on the health of Americans, of our LGBTQ community. That's appalling. I've never seen a record where racial discrimination was so palpable. l've sat on this bench now for 40 years. I've never seen government racial discrimination like this. I ask myself, how can this be?”

7. Donald trump tells ICE agents to target Democratic Cities. (CBS News, ABC News)

8. Yet another example of Trump’s pay to play Administration: OpenAI’s founder Sam Altman donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund. Now, OpenAI is getting a $200 million government contract. (CNBC, OpenAI, Reuters)

9. Trump had a Military parade in DC to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Army aaaaand, his birthday. It was poorly attended, Trump appeared to fall asleep – again, and he apparently raged at Hegseth because the soldiers had no discipline. This according to Michael Wolf, his biographer. I'm thinking he was super-duper hoping for something that looked more like this...

I think most of the troops wanted nothing to do with that parade. There is lots of video showing them marching out of step. I saw many posts from veterans who said marching in step and in unison becomes engrained and automatic. That marching that far out of step with the soldier next to them took effort – as in – it was deliberate. This is just speculation of course, but would it surprise anyone that a lot of troops felt like the parade was about Trump’s ego and they were being used for political reasons?

As I said last week, that $45 million could have been spent on the VA or improving military housing pr pay.

10. Trump dialed back deportation from farms, restaurants, and hotels, after getting calls from CEOs, but then changed his mind a few days later. (NBC News, Yahoo News, The Guardian) Look, I don’t know, but Stephen Miller seems to be running things, so it makes sense that Miller talked him out of the reprieve.

11. Republicans forced passage of the GENIUS Act—giving Trump’s crypto currency corruption crusade a Congressional seal of approval. They passed this bill without any anti-corruption amendments. Bribes, pay-to-play, quid pro quo – all easier now. NINE DEMS VOTED FOR IT because they support crypto currency in general. Good job guys! (The American Prospect, Rolling Stone)

12. Hey guess what guys, Trump wants to bring back – (drum roll) – ASBESTOS! WOOT, WOOT! (Newsweek, Fast Company,) I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that Russia is the largest producer and exporter of asbestos in the world. (World Bank, Statista)

13. Stephen Miller: "Children will be taught to love America. Children will be taught to be patriots. Children will be taught civic values for schools that want federal taxpayer funding. So as we close the Dept of Education and provide funding to states, we're going to make sure these funds are not being used to promote communist ideology." Good God how does someone get like this? Nothing screams NAZI Germany more than forced patriotism. He so clearly despises what our founding fathers were trying to create in America.

14. In this week’s edition of Why is JD Vance Such an Asshole?, J.D. Vance in Los Angeles, CA says: “I was hoping Jose Padilla would be here to ask a question…”. Of course he is talking about Alex Padilla, the senator that was forced to the ground and handcuffed for trying to ask Noem a question at her press conference in HIS state.

15. The GOP are trying to sell off more than 250 million acres of our public lands. (The Wilderness Society, Newsweek) It’s one way they are trying to fund tax breaks for the super-rich in the (embarrassingly stupidly named) Big Beautiful Bill.

16. A law student at the University of Florida, Preston Damsky — a self-described white nationalist and Nazi — wrote a paper arguing that the Constitution only applies to white people – that voting rights should be taken away from non-whites. THEN he won an award that designated him as the best student in the class. The class was taught by a Trump appointed judge. The school defended the decision. But then…. Damsky got on X (Twitter) and started posting racist and antisemitic messages. He wrote in late March that Jews must be “abolished by any means necessary,” the university then suspended him, We are living in the strangest timeline.

17. The new Pope has encouraged priests and bishops to accompany migrants to their court hearings. This is because ICE is waiting outside courtrooms and nabbing immigrants – yes – nabbing immigrants who are going to their hearings, trying to do things the right way(!). (AP News, The Daily Mail, Courthouse News). And guess what? It’s working. Apparently ICE agents don’t want to be seen harassing priests in robes and collar.

18. Trump attacked Iran. Um – this is big. I am going to say what most of my lefty friends will not say – It doesn’t hurt my feelings to have Iran’s nuclear facilities knocked out. They are perhaps the worse sponsor of terrorism in the world. On the other hand, Trump has no idea what he is doing, is easily manipulated by smarter men (Netanyahu), is impulsive, has no understanding of history or geopolitics, and thinks dropping big bombs will be the end of it, and he will be the hero. American military and civilians in the region are now at grave risk and it is hard to predict the consequences.

And it must be stated that the nuclear deal that Obama cut with Iran was working. Russia, China, Great Britain, France, Germany and the US were all in on the negotiations. But Trump despises Obama and unilaterally ended the deal during his first term.

As always, in the words of Thomas Jefferson in Hamilton, “So what did I miss?”
