Everyone loves us.

Here goes...
1. Joe Kent is such a hateful conspiracy theorist wacko (with right wing extremist ties) that he couldn’t even get elected in a very, very red county in Washington State. He lost to a Dem! So of course, Trump tapped him Secretary of Counter -Terrorism, and Republicans in the Senate confirmed him. (OPB, The AP) He thinks J6 was an inside job, and that Trump won in 2020. Both are patently false, but are the best way to win Trump’s heart.
2. In the backlash regarding the Epstein Files, this gross video surfaced. A grown man (Trump) says this in front of an audience and they all laugh – “hahaha he’s sexualizing teenage girls – so funny”. He’s always been inappropriate with teenage girls (see the Miss Teen USA pageant stories).
3. Tim Cook (Apple Inc. CEO) gave Donald Trump a 24-karat gold-plated gift, after Trump gave Apple a permanent exemption from his 100% chip import tariffs and got him to agree to drop the “made in America” phone requirement. (CNBC, Yahoo Finance). Quid Pro Quo, baby. That’s how we do it now.
4. Brazil's Supreme Court ordered the arrest of former president Jair Bolsonaro for trying to overturn his election loss. Wow, we decided Trump has immunity for acts committed while in office. (NPR, BBC) We are not as democratic as Brazil (and a lot of other countries).
5. Trump has ordered the DESTRUCTION OF TWO SATELLITES that collect climate data. (Uncle Rod, NPR, The AP, Economic Times). The satellites are capable of many more years of service. They are also extremely important for farmers. But Trump likes his pretend world where climate change doesn’t exist, solar panels destroy jobs (solar is a massive jobs creator) and windmills cause cancer (they don’t), and make whales go insane (nope). He has said all of this.
6. Mike Flood (R Nebraska) gets a rousing chorus of boos when saying the Republican party represents the middle class. When you keep trying to take away people’s healthcare, and make prescriptions cost more, take food assistance from the poor, all in order to give more tax breaks to the uber rich, some people take umbrage.
7. Trump, who said he would reduce prescription costs by 1500% (Amazing if true! Just kidding, that is stupid.) thinks the statisticians at the Dept of Labor and Statistics have rigged the jobs numbers. “EVERYTHING I DON’T LIKE IS RIGGED!”
8. From Jeff Tiedrich on Threads (a master at snark): “Weird how the guy born into obscene wealth, bailed out repeatedly, allowed to fail upwards forever until he fell ass-backwards into the presidency, and then was declared by the Supreme Court to be a Very Special Boy Who Can Crime Forever never stops whining about how everything is rigged against him.”
9. Lawrence Taylor (Hall of Fame NFL player) raped a 16-year-old girl. (NFL.com, NYT, CNN) So naturally Trump appoints him to a council for youth sports. (Yahoo Sports, CNN)
10. Trump on CNBC: "I got the highest vote in the history of Texas, as you probably know, and we are entitled to five more seats." Aside from the fact he is absolutely not “entitled “ to more seats in the house for winning a state (that’s not how any of this works), fact check: Trump's 56% in Texas 2024 isn't even in the top 10. He ranks 15th, historically. He won less than Nixon, Reagan and George W. Bush.
11. NPR has obtained bodycam footage of Jared Wise on January 6. He yells at police officers, calls them Nazis and the Gestapo. He shouts to rioters attacking the police officers to “kill ‘em.” He was indicted on multiple charges related to his actions on that day, including civil disorder and assaulting, resisting, or impeding an officer. Today Wise is employed by the Department of Justice as a senior adviser regarding the “weaponization of justice”. Yahoo.com, Newsbreak, NPR) Yep.
12. Trump and Pete National Security Threat Hegseth are kicking transgender soldiers out of the Air Force. These are people who have served their country for 15 to 18 years. But kicking them out was not satisfying enough for them, so they are also denying them their retirement. (The Guardian, NBC News, NYT) Why?
13. Per CNBC, only 58 wallets invested in the president's personal meme coin made money. More than a quarter MILLION people lost money. It was just another Trump grift. Why do people keep falling for this stuff?
14. ICE used a battering ram to break through doors at Emiliano’s restaurant and took 16 employees. (CBS News, The Pittsburg Courier, Public Source) We were told they were going to go after violent criminals not tax paying hard working people. They are ripping families apart just to inflate Trumps deportations numbers and of course because it makes Stephen Miller feel so warm and fuzzy inside. Again, this is what it actually looks like when they do this to people. If they were actually spending their efforts going after gang members and violent criminals I’d say fine (as long as everyone gets due process) but this is just pure cruelty.
15. Harvard University was very close to finding an effective treatment for Alzheimer’s and even possibly reversing the damage, but Trump has CUT funding.
16. More Pete National Security Threat Hegseth: This week he reposted a video of pastors saying that women shouldn’t vote. (The AP, OPB, NPR, The Guardian). One of the pastors, Doug Wilson, serves at the church Hegseth is associated with. He’s a Christian Nationalist who think Christianity should be forced on all Americans. Wilson says in the interview, “Women are the kind of people that people come out of. It doesn’t take any talent to simply reproduce biologically”. His church also thinks folks like me should go to jail. Once again, we clearly were NOT OVERREACTING in 2016 or in 2024 when some of us said all of this would happen!! And of course, it is all even worse than I could have predicted.
17. Holy smokes! I don’t know who created this AI video ad (fake ad - satire) for Trump’s ballroom but it is incredible – and diabolical.
18. Trump just ended Title X which means 800,000 low-income women are losing access to birth control. (NPR). Just a quick biological reminder, if women who don’t want kids can prevent pregnancy they won’t be having abortions – which is something I thought Republicans cared about.
As always, in the words of Thomas Jefferson in Hamilton, “So what did I miss?”
