Here goes...

1. Trump insists Susan Rice be removed from Netflix’s Board “or there will be consequences.” “Consequences” if an entertainment company doesn’t obey his commands. Two of his favorite hobbies; going after intelligent Black women - in this case saying she is a “political hack” and accused her of having “no talent or skills”, and controlling the media like a full-blown dictator.

2. The Trump administration deported a 21-year-old gay woman who came to the US from Morocco seeking asylum. In Morocco homosexuality is a crime, punishable with prison time of 3 years or more. Her own family had beat the crap out of her and her partner. She was in detention for a year, and despite a court protection order, they deported her to…….. Cameroon, where homosexuality is also illegal.

3. The Trump Admin awarded a 1.26 billion (with a B) dollar contract to a company to run detention centers. The company, it turns out, operated out of a single family home in Richmond VA. Our treasury is being looted every damn day and congress is utterly useless.

Add that to:

$10 Billion to the “Board of Peace”

$40 Billion to Argentina

$75 Billion to ICE fascists

$134 Billion stolen in tariffs

$1T in a bloated Pentagon budget

$2.1T in tax cuts for billionaires

4. From the Guardian: "In Chicago, of 92 people arrested for assaulting or impeding ICE officers last fall, 74 cases have resulted in no charges; in 13 cases, charges were filed and dismissed; and five charged cases were still pending, a recent investigation by Fox 9, a Minneapolis-based station, showed. As of the end of January, there have been no convictions."

ICE is a lawless bunch of goons accountable to no one.

5. Trump is trying for regime change in (I know – I could make this a multiple choice question with lots of possible answers and the final one would be “all of the above”, and that would be correct, but anyway…) Cuba.

6. The Trump Administration is trying to exchange aid (and in the USAID $) for……………………………..mineral rights. No I am not making this up. Lifesaving foreign aid is just another transaction to Trump.

“…many humanitarian projects are selected based not on need but on what the administration might receive in return.”

7. In RFK Jr., Director of Health and Human Sacrifice news - the top US medical journal's editorial board (Lancet) warned that the "The destruction that Kennedy has wrought in 1 year might take generations to repair, and there is little hope for US health and science while he remains at the helm."

8. I’ve always loved the Olympics – the competition and athleticism. But also, the Olympic level sportsmanship almost always on display. But Trump is a pathetic little man who could never understand the concept. And of course he had to make it about himself. After the US men's hockey team won gold, he posts an image of an American Eagle beating a Canadian Goose, and an AI video of him playing hockey (yeah, right) and fighting with a Canadian player. I’m not posting the links here. It’s too bloody embarrassing.

Instead, here is a great pic of the women’s hocky win.

Hey there has been a lot of new interest in women's hockey because of this awesome women's Olympic team. The Seattle Torrent just set a new U.S. arena record for a women’s hockey game with 17,335 fans at their first-ever Climate Pledge Arena sellout. Dude! I've never been a hockey fan but I am going to become one right effing now! I'm getting tickets, going to go a game, drink beer, and maybe I will finally understand what "icing" actually means. Go Torrent!

9. Oh, also Nancy Guthrie has not been found and no one from the Epstein files has been arrested in the US (among other law and order type stuff), but FBI Director Patel thought it would be awesome to publicly slam beers with the hockey team while laughing at jokes insulting the women’s hockey team – all on the public’s dime. So this aged well…

10. A 12-year-old child in ICE custody died after being denied asthma inhalers for 9 days, with staff claiming the medication was "pending medical review".

“The federal government tried to deport detainees who witnessed Lunas Campos’ last moments. A federal judge in Texas blocked that attempt until after they gave their testimony last month.”

11. ICE agents kidnapped a 56-year-old blind refugee from Rohingya. He also didn’t speak English. Then they realized they had no basis to deport him and released him five miles from his home. He died trying to find his way back to his house.

12. In less than a year, Trump erased 12 years of solvency for the trust fund that pays for Medicare Part A. The CBO says he’s erased 10 years of social security solvency.

13. Rachel Maddow showed this blueprint of ICE's proposed 10K-bed detention facility (keep in mind the largest now houses 4,000) & said each little dot was a human. She then sked what the blueprint "reminded you of?"

Remind you of anything?

Or maybe this?

14. One of the gems in Trump’s SOTU address: "No state can be allowed to rip children from their parents’ arms and transition them to a new gender against their parents will. We must ban it and ban it immediately. Look, nobody stands up. These people are crazy."

wut?

15. Rep Al Green held up a sign at SOTU that said “Black people are not apes”. Because remember, just last week the President of the United States of America shared an AI video that depicted the Obama’s as apes. Green got thrown out, you know, for simply carrying a sign that said “Black people are not apes”. As if that was not bad enough, while getting thrown out, Republicans pointed and laughed and chanted USA! USA! (seriously) and Rep Nicole Malliotakis did this…to a Black man carrying a sign that said “Black people are not apes” while he was getting thrown out by Republicans.

16. Walking national security threat Pete Kegseth, is threatening AI company Anthropic to get rid of safety regulations on their AI tool in order to allow the Department of Defense to analyze conversations of every American and track public dissent. And also to power completely autonomous weapons. Serious George Orwell stuff.

The good news in that Anthropic told him to get lost.

“…we do not believe that today’s frontier AI models are reliable enough to be used in fully autonomous weapons. Allowing current models to be used in this way would endanger America’s warfighters and civilians. Second, we believe that mass domestic surveillance of Americans constitutes a violation of fundamental rights.”

17. Well, the Olympic men’s hockey win was really fun while it lasted – which was about 5 minutes. Patel and Trump had to ruin it. Everything Trump touches rots.

Sports journalist Sarah Spain says it pretty well here…

18. The Kansas legislature cancelled drivers’ licenses for all trans people in the state. They overrode the governor’s veto. Effective immediately, people who are trans can’t drive (to work, to take kids to school, the hospital, etc. etc.), apply for a loan, or vote, and anything else that requires a license.

19. Out of 23 comparably wealthy countries, the US ranks almost last in total stock returns during Trump 2.0. Global markets are up far more than the US market, in some cases posting triple the gains. (data from MSCI)

20. High-ranking federal election officials (i.e. 2020 election deniers) attended a summit last week at which prominent activists who worked to overturn Trump’s loss in the 2020 election pressed for the president to declare a national emergency to take over the midterms.

21. Republicans have fulfilled their life-long dream of bombing Iran. I don’t have a lot to say about this other than every Republican president/Administration in my lifetime has started a war in the middle east, trashed the economy, cut taxes for the rich and cut programs for the poor, and trashed the environment.

They convince people to vote for them with racist attacks on immigrants, scaring that crap out of them with stories about gays and now trans people, and pretending to be Christian and “pro-life”. Inexplicably, it works every time. Every. Time.

22. Trump has BOMBED SEVEN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES since taking office a year ago. By the way AFTER campaigning incessantly on stopping foreign wars and spending the money in the US.

Rachel Madow clocks in on a Saturday to connect this to his malignant narcissism. Sure, follow the money – his people are profiting – literally betting on death with insider information - and of course the military contractors. But there is more to it.

1. DOOMSCROLLING BREAK. Speaking of sportsmanship, remember the 2018 Apple Cup (used to be the biggest rival football game between the WSU Cougs and UW Huskies all year – until the leagues changed. But anyway…)?

The Apple cup that year was in Pullman. The bus carrying the UW Husky marching band crashed and most of the band could not make it to the game (39 of 53 kids were taken to the hospital).

So SCREW IT Y’ALL, the Coug Marching Band - God love ‘em, played the Husky fight song at the Apple Cup. Unheard of! And so totally beautiful! (As an aside, band kids are the best.)

Right here.
