Here goes..
1. Massive typhoon and flooding in Alaska and I feel like no one knows about it. Are you hearing about it?
2. Forecasts for the deadly storm that in western Alaska over the weekend was likely made worse by a lack of weather data triggered by the Trump administration’s cuts.
3. Before Alaska Flooding, E.P.A. Canceled a $20 Million Flood Protection Grant the remote village of Kipnuk planned to use the money to protect against flooding. On Sunday, it was inundated.
4. Cuts to SNAP (food assistance for the poor) made worse because of the government shut down are going to cause actual starvation in this country. The amount Trump is bailing out of Argentina’s extreme right wing leader just doubled from 20 billion to 40 billion. But we can’t fund food assistance or healthcare for the poor. Add to that that Trump is building a 200 million dollar ball room on OUR White House which none of us will never use and he told his supporters he is paying for it and incredibly – THEY BELIEVE HIM!
5. In this week’s edition of Why is J.D, Vance Such an Asshole?, The Vice President of the United States of America took the opportunity to post this as Israeli hostages were being released.
Seriously, what the hell is this guy’s problem? What a petty, stupid, humorless, little man-child.
6. In “war-torn” Chicago, 53,000 people ran a marathon through the city streets with no casualties.
7. In the ongoing hilarity in Portland, Portlanders decided that in a rapid response to Trumps militarization of their city they needed a…..naked bike ride (hahahahahahahahahaha). Oh, Portland how I love you. I'd show pictures of the naked bike parade but my mom reads this blog.
To which little Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House said, and I quote, “What I've seen is the abuse of law enforcement by radical leftist activists. You know, most recently, the most threatening thing I've seen yet was the naked bicyclers in Portland who were protesting ICE down there. I mean, it's getting really ugly.” (Snort) OMG he really said that.
8. The President of the United States of America shared an AI video – I am not making this up – of him wearing a crown, in an Airforce jet, dropping ***shit*** on Americans. Youtube
There is absolutely no bottom. If you think this is funny, screw you. Seriously, screw you. Will there be any point, any point at all, in which evangelicals will say - "No, this is not my guy anymore. This is too much." I don't think there is.
9. National Security Threat Pete Kegseth tried to make all Pentagon reporters from all of the major news outlets sign a pledge that violates the freedom of the press. Thankfully they all said no. Even Fox (who, notably, employed Kegseth for a decade). So Kegseth is now revoking their press credentials. They hate our constitution.
10. Trump is deporting people because he doesn’t like their opinions. Again, they have utter contempt for our Constitution.
11. Good News Alert: Mexico has officially added animal protection to its Constitution (actually amended their Constitution), recognizing animals as sentient beings and banning their mistreatment.
12. Goldman Sachs report says 88% of American companies and consumers are paying Trump's tariffs—not foreign governments like they promised. And when Trump tells his base that tariffs have brought in 17 trillion (a ridiculous number) in revenue they all cheer. It’s coming out of their own pockets and they just don’t understand it – mostly because Fox won’t tell them.
13. Speaker Mike Johnson says a federal officer shooting an unarmed, praying priest in the head with pepper balls is not crossing the line. I mean especially if the Priest was naked and riding a bike!! (he wasn't)
14.Take note Republicans. All we are trying to do is make sure you have healthcare, access to the latest medical advances, clean air and water, and enough healthy food. And for some reason most of you hate us. It's weird.
15. So are giving Argentina more money this year ($40B) than the entire USAID budget in 2024 ($35B), for no reason other than that their president is a Trump ally. People will literally starve to death.
16. Wow. The young Republicans in NY. Here is a graphic showing some of their leaked chats.
Senior Republican leaders including J.D. Vance are dismissing it – “they are a bunch of kids”. No J.D. They are not a bunch of kids.(why on earth is it so impossible to say someone on your side is wrong?! Just take the hit and have some honesty and integrity.) At least the NY GOP suspended the group. This article has good analysys about why people feel comfortable doing this. In my opinion this is a great example of we schools need to teach the raw truth about slavery, the holocaust, and other dark periods in our history. When you are too worried about making kids feel uncomfortable, or feel bad about parts of our history, they just dismiss it. They don’t understand it.
17. White House produces a propaganda video showing the violence in Chicago. It turns out the scenes shown in the video are from Florida and Texas.
18. In a bonus edition of Why is J.D. Vance Such an Asshole (and apparent Trump boot-licker), he posted this. Again, if you think this is funny, seriously, screw you. He is the Vice President FFS. They are mastering the art of dehumanization. Dehumanization leads ignorant racist hateful people to commit violence, send people to concentration camps, and applaud torture. And don't tell me it's a joke and to get over it. I have a sense of humor. In fact, I'm one of the funniest people I know. This is not "funny". Funny is the breakdancing chicken below. "Funny" is not systematically and methodically getting your side to dehumanize the other side so that at some point atrocities are easy. Because that is what they are doing. I refer you back to the president pretending to dump shit on Americans like it's "funny" or the young Republicans vile chat thinking it was "funny" - etc, etc, etc, to infinity.
And btw, do none of them remember the reason for the actual founding of our country? I have been convinced for some time now that these folks actually want a king, a dictator, as long as it is their dictator. The great American experiment of self government doesn't appeal to them anymore if their own version of religion is not forced on everyone else. See Project 2025. Nine months in office and we are unrecognizable.
