To the kids at the Easter egg hunt: "We have a great military. The greatest in the world. You saw what happened with Venezuela..."

Here goes...
1. The US and Israel are hitting civilian infrastructure including bridges, steel plants, pharmaceuticals, but also universities and Israel even destroyed a synagogue. All. War. Crimes.
Trump shared a video of a bridge being blown up (in which civilians were killed) commenting, "The biggest bridge in Iran comes tumbling down, never to be used again — Much more to follow! “. He thinks this is a game, - 'big bridge go boom boom' - and right on cue…
2. Trolling from Iran is really something.
3. Trump says, and Iran seems to confirm, that the U.S. attempted to ship guns into Iran to arm protesters for a government overthrow, but intermediaries – the Kurds apparently - kept the weapons. Hey, I can’t blame the Kurds after what Trump did to them – our strong ally - during his first administration.
4. Religious fanatic and national security threat, Pete Kegseth, said – referring to the pilot allegedly shot down and rescued: “You see, shot down on a Friday. Good Friday. Hidden in a cave, all of Saturday. And rescued on Sunday, Easter Sunday. A pilot reborn.” So…..like….Jesus then. He is saying the pilot is like Jesus.
Kegseth’s continual framing of the war in religious terms is frankly, creepy, and, well, terrifying. Many of the worst war atrocities in history have been carried out by people who think they are fighting a holy war (despite the actual teachings in most holy books including the Bible, Koran, and Torah). Think of it like a “crime of passion” in criminal justice. The person loses all sense of restraint, or ability to think logically - bad, especially when at war.
5. So, as you know, Bondi is out as Attorney General, and Todd Blanche is in. It’s weird because he seems super confused about what the job description of the US Attorney General is: “I just operate every day on doing everything that I need to do to execute the president's agenda and priorities.”

6. Trump’s pet projects, and counting (thank you Josh Autry on Threads for the recap):
-$225 billion Iran operation
-$40b to Argentina
-$10b to Trump (IRS lawsuit)
-$1b Trump Library / Hotel -$1b Qatar jet reno
-$550 million White House reno
-$400m ballroom
-$257m Trump Kennedy Center reno
-$220m Kristi ICE promo
-$200m jets for Kristi Noem
-$100m arch
-$100m for golf (so far this term)
-$70m jet for Melania
-$1.25m to Flynn
-Trump wine sold on fed property
I will add that Trump’s bribery scheme – otherwise known as “Presidential Pardons” (of many heinous criminals) cost the US tax payers (and many crime victims) almost $2 billion in fees and restitution.
7. In perhaps Trump’s sickest move yet (and Folks, that is really, really saying something) he posted this on Easter.
(I realize I addressed this last week. That was because it was posted on Easter Sunday and I had to write about that. But then I, and the rest of the world had to live through Tuesday - in which we thought he might go full nuke on Iran, which was Hell. And it is definitely worth recounting the day and it's aftermath.)
Millions of people here and around the world, including myself, spent the day terrified that Trump would be nuking Iran, and starting WWIII.
Look, you just don’t do this (screaming into the void………). You don’t manipulate the entire global population for your own stupid games. It was not a brilliant or bold negotiating move. It was demented. Bloody demented.
Even the likes of Megyn Kelly, MTG, Candace Owens, Tucker Carlson, and (for-the-love-of-God) Alex Jones came out with incredibly strong rebukes.
Megyn Kelly: "I don't know about you, but I am sick of this s‑‑‑! I'm just -- I'm sick of it, she said of Trump on her Tuesday podcast. "Can't he just behave like a normal human? I mean, honestly, like the president -- '3D chess' -- just shut up."
Tucker Carlson: "To send out a tweet with the F word on Easter morning, promising the murder of civilians and then saying 'Praise be to Allah' without explaining any of it, you are mocking me, every other Christian, because we're Christians,".
And: "No one could ever believe the U.S. government would do that on purpose (end a civilization). I still don't believe it. But after this, you have to kind of wonder. For a president to call for that…not acceptable under any circumstances.".
Candace Owens: “The 25th Amendment needs to be invoked. He is a genocidal lunatic. Our Congress and military need to intervene. We are beyond madness,”
Alex Jones: “How do we 25th Amendment his ass?”.
But of course (thank God), he TACOed. He didn’t end civilization. (In case you haven't heard that term, TACO - Trump Always Chickens Out)
But then he pretended he got a great deal in the cease fire and even Fox News had to admit that the agreement did not achieve any of Trump’s stated objectives.
Furthermore, Iran is going to charge millions in tolls for ships to go through the Strait of Hormuz – something it was not doing before.
But leave it to Trump to say, ‘hey I want in on that toll thing’. He says the US will provide security for a cut. So, in other (more Vito Corleone-like) words, a protection racket.
Trump of course explains why those aforementioned right-wing influencers turned against him. He trotted out the oldy but goody, “low IQ”. Also “losers” and “nut-jobs”.
"They’re stupid people, they know it, their families know it, and everyone else knows it, too!" he wrote on Truth Social.
It’s all quite interesting to watch. But here’s my take on Trump attacking the people who have been the most loyal to him (instead of being a normal person and wanting to know why they disagree with him). He does it because he can. It’s the most narcissistic of traits. He relishes rubbing shit in the faces of people, especially people loyal to him – because he gets to show them just how much he does not care about them – does not need them – has all the power - and will revel in their humiliation. He can do what he wants, even to his most loyal supporters and no one can do anything about it. That’s power. That’s malignant narcissism.
I’ll just leave this here…

As an aside, almost any survivor of domestic violence will recognize this behavior.
What is perplexing is to see these people act surprised when he turns on them. He always demands absolute loyalty and ends up betraying everyone (except Putin – don’t even get started).
8. Speaking of the things a president should never do - Donald Trump just posted a full, uncensored video of a woman being beaten to death with a hammer. Yes. Yes he did. I’m not showing the video or his rambling, nonsensical, factually inaccurate, unhinged post. I’m not even linking to it. If you must view it you will have to do that on your own. What a sick bastard.
9. I don’t know a lot about economics but I’m pretty sure this is going to sting – soon - in many ways.

10. If you read this blog (and if you do thank you, and also, I’m sorry…) you know that I keep talking about how Trump is manipulating the markets to enrich his family and his rich friends. Well..

…he even INCLUDED THE COMPANY'S STOCK SYMBOL. He has zero fear of any consequences whatsoever.
And there is more this morning…

If I were Martha Stewart I would be positively homicidal.
(Wait, did the President really say something about "best ED pills. Just ask Melania!!!".?)
9. Consumer sentiment is at its lowest level since……………………1952.
10. The once great CDC, which I worked with a lot in the early 1990’s because I worked in HIV/AIDS education and care, is now run by a bunch of crackpot conspiracy theorists who can’t stand information that interferes with what they want to believe (the exact opposite how the scientific process actually works by the way). So of course, The CDC hid a report showing covid vaccines reduce ER visits and hospitalizations in healthy adults by half.
11. I continue to be flabbergasted that the US and Iran are not only in an actual war, but also in a social media trolling war. This is bizarre!!! The world is weird.
And I must say, this damn video from the Iranians is frigging brilliant. Legos? Yes. Rap music? Yes. Voice styled like Eminem? Yep. Watch the visuals closely and really listen to the lyrics. George Floyd reference? Yes.

12. I bet your doomscrolling break this week was the same as mine – Artemis and the incredible, brilliant, beautiful astronauts. I was a little pissed at first that NASA was doing this mission at all. Everything is so hard right now and our government is run by a bunch of evil incompetent clowns (and no one fully understands what DOGE did to NASA). I absolutely could NOT endure another Space Shuttle disaster trauma thing again. But my goodness, other than the anxiety attacks I endured when they lost contact going behind the moon and during re-entry, this was just a beautiful, beautiful experience. I’ve created a gallery.
