Trump's "I Have a Scream" speech.

Here goes...

1. Some people decline to dignify Trump’s worst offenses by not posting about them – not giving them attention. I respect that. I am of the mind, however, that if we do not look directly at it, make sure the folks in denial see it, we aid in the denial - and we accelerate our collective slide into madness.

Tragically this week, the brilliant director, writer and comedian Rob Reiner and his wife were murdered – stabbed to death – by their own son. Their bodies were found by their daughter. It’s beyond horrific.

This was Trump’s response. He is a malignant narcissist. A sociopath. A truly sick wretch of a man. Republicans in leadership who have the power to do something about him refuse to. It’s unforgivable.

The former Editor of Christianity Today Magazine, Russell Moore, weighed in: “How this vile, disgusting, and immoral behavior has become normalized in the United States is something our descendants will study in school, to the shame of our generation.”

I just want to point out that we were already suffering the shock and mourning the mass shooting at a Channukah party in Australia and a mass shooting at Brown University, massive floods and on and on in the same weekend. But Trump does what he does.

2. The Trump administration has initiated actions that would strip protections from nearly 88 million acres of public lands.

3. These folks have thoroughly rejected our founding fathers grand vision.

4. A state program in Wisconsin for deaf and blind children helped a 3-year-old, born with poor vision and no ears, learn to communicate. The Trump administration, in it’s bizarre obsession with “wokeness” cut the program’s funding over goals related to diversity, equity and inclusion.

5. Trump is engaging in some of the most appalling corruption we’ve seen in our countries’ history. He and his family are raking in billions while telling the American people who are suffering under skyrocketing costs that “affordability is a democratic hoax”– and Republicans in leadership refuse once again to do anything about it. The New Yorker article is excellent and thorough.

6. Jack Smith told the House Judiciary Committee this week that his team developed "proof beyond a reasonable doubt" that Trump took part in a criminal scheme to overturn the 2020 election. His investigators also had "powerful evidence" that Trump had willfully retained classified documents and tried to obstruct justice to hide that he had them. Is it any wonder Mike Johnson refused to let him testify in public.

7. Donald Trump canceled a Biden plan for airlines to compensate flyers hundreds of dollars for flights delayed by hours and or cancelled. Oh, hey, now we know that United Airlines and Delta Airlines each gave $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund. Pay to play people, pay to play. That’s how we roll now. You can tell yourselves that it’s always been this way. To an extent, sure. But this is quid pro quo on steroids.

8. And while we are on the subject, Intuit Turbo Tax gave a million and the government run free tax filing service was canceled. Kiss free filing goodbye.

9. The House of Representatives just passed a bill that would subject immigrant children to invasive bodily searches, keep them in detention instead of releasing them to their families, and more.

10. The conservative National Review weighed in about Trump’s post re: Rob Reiner.

11. Bret Stephens from the New York Times also: Our Petty, Hollow, Squalid Ogre in Chief.

12. Trump Admin is blockading Venezuela, saying they took OUR oil. That’s it! Who put our oil under their ground!??

People will come at you with “it IS our oil” because American oil companies used to have contracts for it. Venezuela nationalized the oil when they saw they were being exploited. It’s kind of a long story. But bottom line is Exxon and Conoco filed lawsuits for contractual violations. Venezuela’s state-owned oil and natural gas company PDVSA agreed to pay Conoco $2 billion and Exxon $1.6 billion in settlements in 2018 and 2014, respectively. The matter was settled. Getting Venezuela to pay the full amount has been a struggle, but that doesn’t mean Venezuela’s oil “belongs” to us. It’s a matter for the courts. What the US is doing now is nothing more than piracy.

But Trump wants the oil, and Stephen Miller is whispering in his ear everyday his imperialistic aspiration’s as demonstrated by this post:

Also, none of this is true. Don't get me started on all of the ways the US has used it's might to pillage and exploit other countries and people.

13. Trump really has a healthcare plan coming. No really. Soon.

14. GOOD NEWS ALERT: The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was approved by the House a few days ago. The Senate will hopefully pass it too, and it should be veto proof. It offers strong commitments to NATO by keeping troops in Europe, supporting Ukraine, and maintaining U.S. leadership in NATO.

15. The Trump Admin will soon break up the largest Federal Climate Research Center. They don’t care if kids are gunned down at school. They don’t care if kids die of vaccine preventable diseases. They don’t care about the poor or disabled. They don’t care about cancer research, and they don’t care about leaving a livable planet to their own grandchildren. Money is their God and Capitalism is their religion.

16. The American Academy of Pediatrics has lost funding because it criticized RFK Jr., Secretary of Health and Human Sacrifice, and for having the audacity to point out racial disparities in health outcomes.

“This vital work spanned multiple child health priorities, including reducing sudden infant death, rural access to health care, mental health, adolescent health, supporting children with birth defects, early identification of autism, and prevention of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, among other topics.”

“HHS terminated the funding after noting that the AAP’s materials used what the department characterized as “identity-based language”, including references to racial disparities and the term “pregnant people”, according to administration officials cited by the Washington Post.”

17. Good. God. The President of the United States of American has created, in the White House, a “Presidential Walk of Fame” in which he posts portraits of past presidents with plaques underneath full of insults.

18. Trump gave a primetime speech this week in which he shouted words really fast that, put together, contained almost zero coherent thoughts or any actual truth (for the love of God, you can’t reduce prices by %600). It was like tin foil on a filling, stepping in dog pee in the middle of the night, hearing your cat start to vomit when you can’t get there in time, listening to Andrew Dice Clay after he snorted a rail container of cocaine.

Here is how a newspaper in Germany characterized it:

Someone on Threads (David Stella) called it Trump’s “I Have a Scream” speech. Now that's funny.

19. Joy Reid here with the receipts and a world class side-eye. But why do they hate us?

20. A heartfelt F to the U (I can't use the real words because mom reads my blog) to everyone who accused those of us who saw ALL of this coming of being alarmist, or told us we were over-reacting. The only thing we were wrong about is that it has been even worse than we imagined!

And on that note, HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!
