Here goes...

1. ICE is still brutalizing people in Minnesota, this time with the help of the local police. Some “drawdown”.

And this man died in ICE custody of…an untreated tooth infection.

2. Kristi - Puppy Killer - Noem is out. That's good. Markwayne Mullen is in. Good grief. As someone on Threads said (and I can't remember who), That guy can't even protect the border between his two first names.

3. Steven Beschloss, presidential historian, says it best.

4. Trump is turning the pardon system into a for-profit industry regularly charging a million dollars for the privilege of having “king” Trump consider the pardon and bonuses if granted. I just really don’t think this is how it is supposed to work.

Also keep in mind that this eliminates billions in fines and restitution for victims, undermines the DOJ, rewards and protects criminal allies, and punishes enemies.

5. We did not bomb Iran because it was reconstituting its nuclear weapons program, or because of its ballistic missile program. Regime change is the goal.

Ted Cruz on Sunday: there was “no indication” that Tehran was “close to getting nuclear weapons” after the United States struck several Iranian nuclear facilities in June, adding that he argued to President Trump that the time was right for a military strike to possibly effect regime change.

6. Rubio added this gem: “We were offensively, being defensively, proactively engaging while at the same time not engaging and attacking defensively in order to prevent an attack.”

7. The administration cannot even decide if we are at war or not.

8. Also Rubio, “We just can’t notify 535 people. That’s not possible.” in response to why Congress was not notified in advance of US attack on Iran.

It’s not possible? Look, I work in a school. We can notify my entire school community if it’s a snow day. I’m pretty sure the technology exists.

A note about the War Powers act: The president does not have to notify Congress or get their authorization before starting a war. The President is supposed to “notify” Congress withing 48 hours after the bombing starts. And I suppose that is okay it, IF, you don’t have a megalomaniac -psycho – malignant narcissist in the White House.

However, The President must terminate the use of forces within 60 days (with a potential 30-day extension for withdrawal) unless Congress authorizes a longer period or declares war.

So, The President can start a war – any war – and keep at it for 3 months without involving Congress.

9. Americans are very lucky, because wherever they go to bring freedom… they find oil.”— Michele Serra, Italian journalist

10. The US and Israel started this war and almost immediately committed an atrocity – hitting a girl’s school and killing over 160 girls and teachers. I’m not saying they did it on purpose. It was an accident, but war is Hell as we all know and the rich and powerful – who aren’t sending their kids - seem to take the choice a bit too lightly.

Also the “shit happens in war..” thing. As if this was like a natural disaster, or an act of God. Like no one made the conscious decision to start a war in which we all agree WAR IS HELL. YES, YOU CHOSE HELL. YOU CHOSE IT.

Secretary of “War” Kegseth is so hopped up on steroids and video games he is practically giddy when he talks about it. It’s sick.

Death and destruction from the sky all day long,” Pete Hegseth, wearing a red, white and blue tie and pocket square, bragged to reporters at the Pentagon near Washington. “This was never meant to be a fair fight, and it is not a fair fight. We are punching them while they’re down, which is exactly how it should be.”

What an idiot.

I mean, it’s almost funny – except for the carnage that is the result of the toxic testosterone mess that is his brain.

The dumb, politically correct wars of the past were the opposite of what we’re doing here,” Hegseth also said at a news conference in Tampa, adding that previous conflicts had “vague objectives with restrictive, minimalist rules of engagement.”

He declared, “No more.”

You guys, minimizing damage and having rules about killing people is for “woke” pansies. Let’s just blow shit up!

11. For Trump’s part regarding the 6 soldiers killed: “As one nation, we grieve for the true American patriots who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, even as we continue the righteous mission for which they gave their lives,” Trump said in a video shared on Truth Social. “Sadly, there will likely be more, before it ends. That’s the way it is.”

12. So of course – as Netanyahu did in the war in Gaza, Trump is claiming Iran bombed the girls school themselves. Trump said, without evidence, “No, in my opinion, based on what I’ve seen, that was done by Iran."

Hegseth said, “The only side that targets civilians is Iran.”

He thinks he’s so clever. No one said you “targeted” the school, Kegseth. but you did target the military complex RIGHT NEXT TO IT.

The worst part of it is that they all just shrug it off, again - well shit happens in war. They. Do. Not. Care.

None of this had to happen. None of it was inevitable. We had a multi-national nuclear agreement with Iran that was working. It had reduced Iranian stockpiles of uranium by 98%. But Trump hates Obama and has been obsessed with destroying any and everything that Obama accomplished. And Republicans have been itching to bomb Iran for a generation – telling us for 47 years that an attack from Iran is “imminent”. I don’t think the word means what they think it does.

Billions of dollars on a war of choice and by the way AMERICANS STILL DON’T HAVE AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE.

13. Also, for those of you who were upset about the Afganistan withdrawl…

Hey, I’m not defending the Afghanistan withdrawal other than to say the point was to END a 25-year war, and that Biden didn’t lie about where it went off the rails.

14. I completely agree with Marjorie Taylor Green here.

15. MTG…….again(!)…

16. From David Frum (Conservative commentator and former speechwriter for George H. W.Bush): “The real point to the Iranian attacks is to get the Iranians to attack on US soil to give Trump the incident he wants to invoke emergency powers and to interfere with the midterm elections.” Yep.

17. By the by:

Donald Trump on JUNE 21, 2025: “Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated. Any claim to the contrary is fake news.

Donald Trump on MARCH 4, 2026: “If we didn’t hit within two weeks, they would have had a nuclear weapon.”

18. REMINDER from Greenpeace UK: Solar and wind energy don't get stuck in the Strait of Hormuz.

19. Foreign news organizations and the UN are claiming there are more US casualties and much more damage to US bases in the region than the US media is reporting. I believe this but do not have good sources to prove or disprove that at this time.

For his part, Kegseth is bummed out that the “fake news” has made such a big deal about the deaths of the 6 soldiers reported so far.

“This is what the fake news misses. We’ve taken control of Iran’s airspace and waterways without boots on the ground. We control their fate. But when a few drones get through or tragic things happen, it’s front page news,”.

I read that like a 13-year-old mean girl.

I’m thinking of evolving his name from Kegseth to Kegsdeath. What do you think?

20. Hey guess what!? The Whitehouse shared an AI video mixing clips from the video game Call of Duty with clips from the actual war with ran, all to the sounds of heavy metal music including Metallica’s Enter Sandman. No, I’m not kidding, and I cannot believe I’m still able to be shocked, but I am – because WTAF!

Here's one set to La Macarena. (As an aside, in all cases they are using music without the artist's permission, or against the artist's expressed wishes not to use it.)

More bloviating from Kegsseth with clips of the US blowing things up. I was Hunted. Now I'm the hunter.

21. Russia is providing Iran information about where to attack US forces in the Middle East.

22. And now for this respectfully sober and reassuring message from the President of the United States of America during this difficult time:

23. Trump Evangelicals are going to get us all killed.

US military commanders have been invoking extremist Christian rhetoric about biblical “end times” to justify involvement in the Iran war to troops, according to complaints made to a watchdog group.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) says it has received more than 200 complaints from service members (from over 50 installations) across all branches of the armed forces, including the marines, air force and space force.

One complainant, identified as a noncommissioned officer (NCO) in a unit that could be deployed “at any moment to join” operations against Iran, told MRFF in a complaint viewed by the Guardian that their commander had “urged us to tell our troops that this was ‘all part of God’s divine plan’ and he specifically referenced numerous citations out of the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the imminent return of Jesus Christ”.

“He said that ‘President Trump has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth’”, the NCO added.

They think they are hastening the return of Christ………by killing people. They are hoping for Armageddon. And what is Armageddon? Nukes?

I’ve been told my entire life the God has a plan. We don’t always understand it, but we are supposed to have faith. So, if God is in charge how is it these nut jobs think they can influence God and his plan? Hasten the results? If they are trying to hasten it does that mean His plan is imperfect?? What I remember about the Book of Revelations is that it scared the shit out of me.

The leader of the aforementioned MRFF Mike Weinstein, said, "This is a national security threat—not just to our country, but to the world."

The complaints represent the "unrestricted euphoria" of some U.S. military commanders who believe the ongoing conflict in Iran represents Christian fundamentalism as described in the New Testament Book of Revelation.

"This is horrible, hideous, repellent, stinking Christian nationalist triumphalism, brutality, tyranny, prejudice, hatred and bigotry," Weinstein said. "And I'm not done. It is ripping asunder that which keeps the military together, which is six things: good order, morale, discipline, unit cohesion, the health and safety of the troops and mission accomplishment."”

Yet another example of how destructive religious extremism is. Fighting for God is different – it’s that “unrestricted euphoria” (and bigotry and hate) that will drive the most heinous of acts - in the name of God.

How do these people distinguish themselves from ISIS or the Taliban or the people who flew planes into the twin towers?

24. As of last night, Israel has hit an oil refinery in Iran. Toxic gasses and oil are raining down on Tehran covering everything in black and making the air unbreathable.

25. Well Hell. It’s pretty tough to come up with a doomscrolling break after all of that. I have to keep laughing or I’m going to lose it altogether.

So here is this. Did you know ther are hobby horse competitions? I didn't. And as funny as that sounds (and it does) this kid's quite the athlete. (I'm sorry it makes you watch it on Instagram. I'm trying to fix that.)

Here is a bonus doomscrolling break (because, geeze...)

Apparently the Wasgington DOL last July use AI to record the spanish speaking message on the phone system. And for all of this time, the message was not in Spanish but in English, with a thick Spanish accent.
