Before I get started I must plug the No Kings march scheduled in cities and towns around the country (and probably the world) next Saturday, March 28th.
A few weeks ago I shared with you about my march/protest/accidentally-stumbling-into-civil-unrest back pack. Here, again is the info about that if it is useful to anyone.
Here goes...
1. The US was the sole dissenting voice in a UN resolution reaffirming the rights of women over concerns about abortion and transgender language. “Ivory Coast, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Mali, Mauritania, and Saudi Arabia, voiced support for the US opposition to certain provisions”, but in the end they all voted to support the resolution. Only the US vote “no”.
2. National security threat and dangerous Christian Nationalist religious fanatic, Pete Kegseth, loves to talk tough. This week he says, "We will keep pressing, keep pushing, keep advancing. No quarter, no mercy for our enemy."
Well, 1, that would be a war crime(!) And 2, exactly what Christian religious tradition preaches “no mercy”. Certainly not the one I grew up in. “No mercy”? Apparently, depending on the translation, the word “mercy” shows up in the bible 250 to 300 times and it is almost entirely NOT in the context of “no” mercy.
3. Remember that ridiculously embarrassing moment in 2025 when JD Vance, who, if you read this blog know, that we have established is a complete asshole, asked Zelensky in the Oval Office if he ever said “thank you” to the US? Well, if you’ll remember, one of the things Zelensky said was, "One day you will need allies. One day you will need help." Trump laughed it off. Last week, Trump was begging France, Canada, Spain and Switzerland for support in his war, and they told him to get bent.
Trump’s made it quite clear that he hates our allies. He hates alliances. As a malignant narcissist. To him relationships are only transactional. “Win-win” is not a thing. He only feels that he wins if others lose. It’s just that stark.
Well, here in the real, functioning, world – not the rancid hellscape in his bile infested brain – friends are actually very important!
4. Speaking of trnasactional: The US is threatening to withhold HIV/AIDS medicines from Zambia unless they give us access to their rare earth minerals. Everything is transactional. Doing something because it is good is for babies.
5. Mohommad Nazeer Paktyawal, a man who served alongside American soldiers for a decade as an interpreter in Afghanistan, was evacuated after the withdrawal (WE BROUGHT HIM HERE), and was living in Texas with his wife and 6 children awaiting his asylum process to complete……..was arrested by ICE and he later died in custody.

6. We are causing utter chaos in Cuba and no one is talking about it.
7. Example 100 billion of Trump just making crap up: President Trump claimed to reporters twice in one day that he had spoken to a former president who praised his war with Iran, saying: “I wish I did what you did.” No. Just no.
Aides to all four living presidents, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Joe Biden, have issued statements to CNN, saying there is no record of any communications between them and President Trump.
8. What fresh Hell is this? Well, this would be a whole White House web site dedicated to convincing you that COVID was a lab leak in China. They just can’t let anything get in the way of what they really really really want to believe.
9. Trump said there was no fire on an aircraft carrier (USS Ford) and actually threatened the death penalty to those in the media who reported it. Then the next day sailors reported they fought the blaze for 30 hours…on The USS Ford.
10. This right here…

11. This too

12. 1 in 4 American farmers has NO fertilizer secured for spring planting due to geo-politics and shipping interruptions (like you know, the Straight of Hormuz), fertilizer and fuel costs, tariffs.
Farm bankruptcies were up 46% in 2025.
Less than half of all farmers will even turn a profit this year.
While the total number of U.S. farms is declining,
the number of large-scale farms (those with $1 million or more in sales) is increasing
Yet how many would vote for him again? What excuses would my late, Trump-loving father make?
13. Remember when people were fired just for repeating Charlie Kirk’s own words on social media after his death? And how the right was so incensed that we were not heartbroken over the loss?
And as always - one has to remember that this is The President of the United States of America.

Mueller - combat veteran, officer in the United States Marine Corps. Winner of the bronze star and purple heart.
14. “…he acts on whim and impulse, and when he changes his mind—when he feels new whims and new impulses—he simply lies about whatever he said or did before.” From a the excellent Anni Applebaum in a new article from the Atlantic, Everyone but Trump Understands What He’s Done. Folks I highly recommend this article.
15. The DOJ has dropped the experience requirement for new federal prosecutors because nobody wants to work there anymore. So, someone can go straight from law school – with no experience as a prosecutor - to a federal job as a prosecutor. Should we be calling these DEI hires?
16. Sen John Cornyn thinks this is disturbing…

Hm…something...something...Constitution....whatever...
BTW: Interestingly, it was an American Baptist persecuted by Christian state governments in America who persuaded James Madison to include both freedom of religion AND freedom from state religion in the First Amendment r. A religious government is a recipe for religious persecution - even of Christians.
Talarico is 100% correct.
17. Remember when I told you we sent 2 real estate investors (Kusher and Witkoff) to NEGOTIATE A NUCLER DEAL???? Well, UK national security adviser Jonathan Powell, who was also there, alleges Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff acted as Israeli assets to push President Trump toward war, bypassing a serious Iranian nuclear offer in Geneva.
“Jonathan Powell thought Tehran’s ‘surprising’ offer on its nuclear programme could prevent rush to war…”
Remember, Trump said the reason we decided to attack Iran was basically because Kushner said he should.
18. Well guess what. It turns out In fact, The Trump Admin fired all of the oil and gas experts in the State Department before the war. Folks who might have been able to anticipate the ramifications of such a stupid move. If you think about it, it would be like firing infections disease experts and throwing away the pandemic manual before a global pandemic. Right?! So dumb.
19. Well, Epstein file EFTA00090314, a raw intelligence report states that, "Trump has been compromised by Israel. And Kushner is the real brains behind his organization and his presidency."

20. The National debt has surged past $39 trillion. I remember when republicans used to care about the debt.
21. Oh hey, and right on cue, National Security Threat, Pete Kegseth says, without a hint of irony, “Instead of investing their money in their people, Iran invests it in missiles and weapons.”

Also, he is currently asking congress for $200 billion for the war in Iran, and they would have only taken $15 billion to extend the ACA subsides.
22. JD Vance, 2024: "When people like Kamala Harris send our sons and daughters, our young people, to fight in stupid wars, it is the young generation that carries the burden of that. We're gonna stop sending our young people to far away lands."
Tulsi Gabbard (lieutenant colonel who served 2 tours in the Middle East) has been staunchly anti foreign war. She said in 2020, “…war with Iran would be “so costly and devastating it would make our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan look like a picnic.”
She was running for president at the time and that same week her presidential campaign started selling “No War With Iran” T-shirts for $24.99. Her Tulsi2020 website proclaimed: “How many more American lives, how many more trillions of dollars will be wasted before we exit? It could be now, or it could be 10 or 20 years from now, but there is no American victory.”
Hegseth called himself a “recovering neocon”. He wrote a book The War on Warriors, in which he advocated for a "no foreign wars" approach by arguing against "endless," "nation-building" interventions and criticizing the U.S. military establishment's focus on global experiments rather than national interests.
See for yourself.
Trump hammered this message for decades. No stupid foreign wars. And if you are a Trump supporter, you agreed. Because remember, you said all that money wasted on foreign wars could be spent helping Americans at home. If you whole-heartedly supported this, voted for this, all this time, you meant it. Right? I mean, right??
No – you changed your mind because Trump told you too (and remember Trump changed his mind because real estate investors - not nuclear or geopolitical experts - told him to).
And Trump can’t even coherently explain to you why he did this! The "reason" changes every day. 160 little school-girls blown up – and you don’t seem to care. The dreaded GAS PRICES skyrocketing. And again, oddly, given the whole bloody presidential campaign, you don’t care! Regime change in Venezuela and Cuba. Suddenly, you don’t care about nation-building. Again, they are asking for $200 billion for a foreign war while refusing to spend $15 billion on healthcare for Americans (your whole reason for not wanting foreign wars).
As an aside, you really (really really) wanted the Epstein files released too. Dammit – somebody’s got to pay for those crimes against children! But now you don’t care, because he told you you are stupid for not letting it go.
He went to Oppisiteland on every damn thing he pledged in his campaign (except for being cruel to brown people). And you’d vote for him again. You would do it again!
Maybe this isn't you. But IF it is...
**********THIS, FRIEND, IS HOW YOU KNOW YOU ARE IN A CULT*********

23. Doomscrolling break. I really hope you are not flying this week! Between the lack of TSA agents due to the government shut down and the fact that ICE is now being deployed to airports, it's going to be a mess. Even more so that it already is - on a good day.
But if you are heading to the airport, I hope you encounter my favorite random public dancer guy, Blake McGrath (OMG I love him).
